Kung Pow: Enter The Fist is a movie within a movie. The film was created to spoof everything about the kung fu martial arts genre. Using contemporary characters, writer and director, Steve Oedekerk, splices the characters into Jimmy Wang Yu‘s 1976 Kung-Fu film, Tiger And Crane Fist, weaving the old with the new, like a tapestry. By digitally inserting himself and with the use of dubbed voices, Oedekerk ceates the hilarious parody.
Kung Pow: Enter The Fist‘s main character, The Chosen One, (Steve Oedekerk) is a very gifted kung fu fighter who sets off to avenge his parents deaths at the hands of the evil warlord and Kung-Fu Legend, Master Pain (Fei Lung). Master Pain has spent a lifetime attempting to destroy The Chosen One, starting at The Chosen One’s birth, when Master Pain killed his family. On his journey, The Chosen One must fight many strange characters led by Master Pain, including a cow who has been trained in the martial arts and who squirts milk as a weapon. He continues his training with a “slightly deranged” sifu who agrees to train The Chosen One only after he sees an identifying mark, The Chosen One’s tongue has a living face on it he calls Tonguey.
The ending to Kung Pow: Enter The Fist hinted at a sequel and it looks like we may finally get one with Kung Pow 2 Tongue of Fury. We will keep you posted!
