Girls Grappling and Grit (2019) is a documentary discussing the growth of women and girls in wrestling from elementary school, college, and beyond.
Filmmaker MarQ Picoos took a year to document the growth and push to make the women’s and girls’ wrestling accepted in the United States. The project also chronicles the struggles, triumphs, and personal journeys of wrestlers who are looking to inspire and defied the odds; from a tween girls’ program, a high school powerhouse, and the first season of a college team. He also went in depth about the history of the sport with Sally Roberts, founder of “Wrestle Like a Girl”.
Among those he interviewed were Combate Americas star Kyra Batara and InvictaFC vet Jessica Philippus.
