In Zu Warriors From the Magic Mountain (1983), Chinese soldiers in an ancient civil war get caught up in a fantastical quest to save the universe.
Note: Zu Warriors From the Magic Mountain (1983) is a supernatural wuxia fantasy adventure that combines Hong Kong action cinema with western special effects. Zu was nominated for five Hong Kong Film Awards in 1984 including Best Action Choreography – Corey Yuen, Best Actress – Brigitte Lin, Best Art Direction – William Chang, Best Film Editing – Chi Kong Sheck and for Best Picture. It also gave filmmakers a new genre that went unnamed until Craig Read called it, Fant-Asia because it contained elements of fantasy, sci-fi, horror and sex. It initiated stupendous high wire work and the director used very fast frame action so that things seemed to travel, and explode, at the speed of light.
